LED Drivers

LED Drivers (also known as power supply, adapters, or transformers) are essential components for low-voltage LED strips or other lighting fixtures. A reliable lighting driver ensures efficient and optimal lighting system operation in residential, commercial, or industrial settings. LEDs require specific low-voltage DC12V or DC24V (direct current) power, but your homes and buildings only support high-voltage AC110V or AC220V (alternating current), so we need the drivers to convert and control the electricity to match the LED tapes' needs.

Why do we need the Light Drivers?

Because LED strips are sensitive to working voltage and current, without or connecting incorrect LED drivers, the LEDs will burn out immediately, or the brightness will flicker or become inconsistent. Or the voltage spikes will damage the LED chips. The LED power supply will provide constant voltage for LED strips, usually 12V or 24V. Or constant current for high-power LEDs. That's why we need to calculate and check if we own the correct LED adapters before we run the lighting.

The factors of choosing light drivers:

1. Match in and output voltage: Check if your LEDs need 12V, 24V, or other voltages. And confirm the input voltage: AC110V or AC220V.

2. Check the output wattage: The LED adapters' wattage should be 20% higher than the power consumption of the LEDs to ensure the system runs stable. For example, the 10W LED strips will need at least a 12W LED driver.

3. Dimming Controls: If you want to adjust the brightness of LEDs, you can purchase dimmable LED drivers without adding dimmers.

4. Indoor & Outdoor: There are IP-rated waterproof drivers for wet locations or outdoor use: IP67 and IP68.
